29 Palms Critter Sitter
It is important for you to inform me of anything you think I should know before watching your dog so I can prevent incidents from happening. I can tell you that I have never lost a dog or cat , I have never had a injury and I have never had a dog fight happen at my house in all the years I've been doing this (knock on wood) As of 10/2021. That doesn't mean something can't happen someday. I'm just a very cautious person and go out of my way to prevent things from happening. I also have cameras everywhere so if I'm inside I can still see what's going on outside.
1: IT'S THE LAW AND MY POLICY
Please be advised that all dogs MUST be leashed when on the premises. This is important because others clients will be coming and going with their dogs, for safety purposes please remember to bring your dog on a leash. If you arrive at my house without a leash please leave your dog in your vehicle and I will go grab a leash. All dogs on the premises must be leashed at all times. NO EXCEPTIONS. It is important that the leash be attached to a properly fitted collar. A collar must fit snug around the dog's neck. You should be able to place only two fingers between your dog's neck and collar. The collar must not be so loose that it pulls over your dogs head.
2: DESTRUCTIVE DOG POLICY
Clients who board dogs with me that are destructive will be held liable for all damage caused to my home and any injury that the dog may inflict upon itself while engaging in destructive behaviors. This policy is applied to any and all destructive dogs regardless of the reason for destruction. That is, whether the dog has separation anxiety, fear of thunderstorms, or any phobia or generalized escape behavior. Although I will allow dogs with these problems to be boarded at my home, you're boarding at your own risk. On my enrollment form please be sure to give me a heads up if you know your dog has a destructive personality so I know to keep a closer eye on he/she.
3: FENCE JUMPERS AND DIGGERS POLICY
Clients who board dogs that can jump 6' fences or dig out must inform me at the time the reservation is made as special arrangements must be made to house these dogs. If you think your dog might jump a 6ft foot fence or dig out you're leaving him/her at your own risk. As of 8/2021 I have never had a dog escape. My fencing is a fence within a fence as seen in my house photos. The dog would have to get through multiple fences without me knowing and I'm always home when dogs are outside so chances of it happening are slim.
4: LOST OR DAMAGED ITEMS POLICY
Make sure anything you do bring is clearly labeled with your dog's name. I ask that dog food is put in a plastic container with your dogs name on it. I do not need bowls from home. They will most likely get mixed up with mine. Many clients prefer to leave their leashes with me when they drop off. Sometimes on rare occasions a leash will get chewed up. Therefore, clients who leave any items with me are doing so at your own risk. I will not be held responsible for any item that you leave at my house should they become damaged or lost.
5: FENCE FIGHTERS
A fence fighter is a dog that lunges, jumps and barks at the dogs in a adjacent yard. Fence fighters also grab the fencing with their teeth and stick their noses through fencing. Sometimes this behavior is playful and sometimes it is aggressive. When I encounter fence fighters I do the best that I can to control this behavior. For example, I may limit the dogs freedom or move the dog to another yard. It is generally not possible to completely eliminate the behavior; therefore, should a fence fighter break a tooth, scratch it's nose, or in any way get injured, I will not be held liable. Furthermore, clients who board dogs with me that are fence fighters will be held liable for all damage caused to my home and any injury that the dog may inflict upon itself while engaging in this behavior.
6: IT IS UNFORTUNATE THAT THIS POLICY IS NECESSARY
Any dog that is not called for within five (5) days of the scheduled pickup time, and the owner does not notify me of extended boarding, it shall be deemed abandoned. I shall dispose of the dog that is abandoned publicly, privately, or otherwise. My home shall have, and is hereby granted, a lien on the dog for any and all unpaid charges and the owner shall remain liable for complete boarding fees as well as other charges incurred in the case, maintenance, and disposal of said dog. My home may exercise its lien rights upon the 1st day of abandonment. The owner specifically waives all statutory or legal rights to the contrary.
7: PAYMENT UP FRONT POLICY
I will send you an invoice that is due at time of booking or by due date in order to hold the spot for you. If you book months in advance chances are the due date won't be due on receipt. I normally make the due date around 30 days before the reservation. My invoice allows you to pay by, debit, credit or PayPal. Please don't pay by echeck because it takes too long to clear and payment must be received before drop off. No services will be provided without payment up front.
8: RESERVATION CANCELLATION POLICY
My home has limited space and is frequently at 100% occupancy. Due to loss of revenue as a result of no call/no shows, untimely cancellations and schedule changes I have implemented the following cancellation policy... all payments are non refundable because It's highly likely I turned someone away to hold the spot for you. It's not money lost unless you cancel. I'm sorry that it has become necessary to implement such a strict cancellation policy; however, I can not continue to incur the tremendous loss of revenue. If you are unsure about your trip do not book with me until you are so you're not out money.
9: NO DROP OFFS OR PICK UPS ON SATURDAYS
It's my only day with no alarm and no human visitors. Please understand that while I do appreciate your business, I also deserve a day to myself. If you need me on a Saturday you will need to drop off on Friday and pick up on Sunday, sorry! On Saturdays I will still be home but I just won't be having any human visitors. I don't respond to any work related texts, requests, or social media etc on Saturday's. If I get a request for a Saturday drop off or pick up I will add an additional $40 after hours fee.
10: OPEN HOURS
Drop offs are only allowed between the hours of 6:00am to 10:30am. I don't do night drop off's for dogs because they don't settle down before bed. You have until 6pm to pick up, at 6:01pm I'm closed. If you don't make it back before 6pm you have between 6m-10:30am to pick up the next morning with no extra charge for that day. All drop offs and pick ups are by APPOINTMENT ONLY! If you forget the time you requested you can find it on the invoice. Please be on time. Please don't be early and don't be late. A have a very small window in the mornings for people to drop off and pick up. If you are dropping off that means someone is picking up. I have a constant rotation. Before coming to my house please send me a message to let me know you're about to head my way.
11: BOARDING RATES
I only charge $12 per dog a day. If your female dog is in heat I charge $20 a day. I only charge $5 a day for small animals such as lizards, snakes, birds etc. Boarding charges are calculated similar to human hotels; clients are charged for a full day the day/night they drop their Critter off, regardless of the drop off time. Clients who pick up their Critter the next day before 10:30 am will not be charged for that day. Clients that pick up after 10:30 am are charged for the full day.
12: AFTER HOURS SERVICE POLICY
My regular business hours are from 6:00 am to 6pm. Special arrangements can be made for before and after hour drop offs or pick ups. A $40.00 fee will be charged for ANY drop off or pick up that occurs during non-business hours AND and such service must be prearranged. No after hours service will be provided on major Holidays.
13: DOGS THAT USE PEE PADS
If your dog is use to using a pee pad in the house I will not watch your dog. I'm sorry but not only do I personally find it gross...I don't need my other visitors thinking it's ok to pee inside because your dog.
14: BREED DISCRIMINATION
I don't discriminate against any breed. If your dog doesn't get along with other dogs I'm set up to handle dogs that need their own yard during outdoor time. I watch a lot of dogs that don't like other dogs without incident. I watch a lot dogs that don't like any other humans besides their owners without incident also. My backyard is set up into 4 yards or one huge yard if everyone gets along.
My policies, procedures, services may change from time to time. While I will attempt to notify you of these changes, it is ultimately your responsibility to check back on my website regularly so that you are aware of my most current policies, procedures, services, and rates. When leaving your animal in my care I go above and beyond to make things as safe as possible but you're doing so at your own risk.
I reserve the right to refuse service to anyone at my sole discretion.
TWO THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW BEFORE BOOKING WITH ME:
1: I no longer allow people in my home. Here's why...When I 1st started doing this back in 2008 I let every single person into my home. Over the years we had things come up missing so I stopped letting people use my bathroom. The straw that broke the camel's back was about 6 years ago when a Marine and his wife were dropping off their dog so they could head to Vegas for the Ball. While I was standing their talking to his wife I watched him pick up a very expensive watch and hide it in his hand while he played with his dog. He knew it was wrong so he sat it back down. At that time I whispered to my daughter that was living with me at the time to watch him because he's wanting to take the watch and bammm he picked it back up. My daughters jaw about hit the ground. I told her to zip it and we continued to talk to his wife. I wanted to see if he really had the nerve to take something of mine while he was dropping his dog off. I knew he had to come back for his dog. I let him drive away and then I texted him saying "You can wear the watch to your ball but bring it back when you pick up your dog"! He didn't reply so I texted his wife "tell your husband he can wear our watch to the ball but to bring it back when you come for your dog". I instantly got a message back from her and let's just say she was so embarrassed. I felt bad for her but I gave him the chance to respond to me 1st. Her husband's excuse was "he didn't know it belonged to someone" yet they were at my house. Since then I MEET EVERYONE OUTSIDE and have everyone look at my pictures to see the inside of my house and my yards. I live in a very clean, alcohol, smoke & drug free home. The world has changed and not for the better. When someone has the nerve to take things from someone that's doing them a favor by watching their animal its just not worth it to me to allow strangers into my home anymore. Videos of the inside of my house are on Instagram.
2: When I'm able to get a picture or video I will post it to Instagram. During the summer months I might not get any pictures because the dogs don't want to be out in the heat to play. It doesn't happen often but it does happen. Some dogs don't like pictures at all. I will not chase dogs around all day sticking a camera in their face. I take unplanned random photos as I go about my day that I will post to Instagram. I do not pet sit so my phone goes off 24/7 asking for pictures or updates. If you need that, I'm not the pet sitter for you. I’m a straight shooter and brutally honest! With that being said...Coddling: If you’re wanting me to take care of your animals while you go on vacation please understand I coddle animals, not humans! I’m not a counselor so if you can’t handle being away from your animals and need constant updates I’m not the pet sitter for you! It's basically like pick your poison...do you want someone that is reliable and trustworthy taking care of your animals that has done this decades without incident? If so, I’m your girl! Or do you want someone to coddle you? If so, I’m not the pet sitter for you because I can’t and I won’t do it. Right now you're probably thinking OMG how rude, right? Well you have not had to endure the crazies that I have so you can't possibly understand where I'm coming from. There's other pet sitters out there that will jump through your hoops for money but I will not.
